The beloved wife of aboriginal leader passed away of Covid - 19 on 04th September 2021 . Her last rights performed at Mahiyangana Pradesheeya Sabha Cremotorium .Heenmenika Urwargaye who was receiving treatment at Peradeniya teaching hospital after being infected with the Corona virus passed away last Saturday.She was 64 years old at the time of her death.
When an aborigine dies it is customary for the aboriginal to
bury the body in a medicinal box made from the bark of the hik tree. However
due to the pandemic the body was cremated after rituals as per the health guide
lines.
