Kevin Durant-led American basketball team wins the Olympic basketball championship for the fourth time in a row. They beat France 87-82 on Saturday to lift their country to the top for the fourth time.
"Every championship is special, but I can honestly say this is the biggest responsibility I have ever felt," said coach Greg Popovich.
Kevin scored 29 points, Jason 19 points, Damien and Holiday 11 points apiece. Another specialty is that many of these players are the top performers in the American NBA. Kevin Durant, who represented the Brooklyn Nets in the 2020/2021 NBA Championship, has been sidelined for almost a year due to injury.
The French team was also very competitive and had some great players (Evan and Rudy scored 16 points each), however the Americans showed their best and won the toss.
"I'm very happy with the pop, the staff, the players, the country," said Jerry Colongelo, managing director of basketball in the United States, who oversaw the program for his fourth and final Olympics and won all of them.
